“Inspiring change from the Bottom-up” is designed to be an introductory presentation to the Recovery xChange. It takes the audience on a journey through the highlights of the rights and recovery movement and its direct impact on the recovery movement in NYS. It is a complementary presentation to "A Visual Essay of the Rights & Recovery Movement in NYS", and is designed for both providers and consumers as an overview on the concepts of self-directed recovery and wellness management. Its objective is to inspire hope, instill the belief in recovery and emphasize the need to shift the mindset from “mental illness” to mental wellness, thereby x-terminating the illness paradigm that plagues the mental health community.
Some of the topics covered in this training include:
- Rights and the ADA
- Informed Choice: essential to recovery
- Well-Being Project; WRAP; and the White Paper
- Recovery, wellness management and peer support
